Something Blue? 5 top tips for your Wedding colour scheme

You might think choosing a colour scheme for your Wedding Breakfast will be one of the simpler tasks on your very long list of 'things to do' for your wedding. If you've got a particularly favourite colour (and who hasn't) then it might be fairly straight forward, but have you considered; will it match the season, will it compliment or contrast with your flowers, and what about bridesmaids dresses, Bridegroom & Groomsmen attire?

These are just a couple of things you might want to consider before you commit yourself to chair covers and sashes, table runners and even the colour of your stationary.

With colour combinations of pink and green, red, white & grey, burgundy and something for those Autumn weddings; my board i toast wedding colours will help you on your way.

If you're just starting on a colour scheme here are my 5 top tips to help you choose a colour scheme:

  • Use a colour wheel - download a colour wheel, to see colours that compliment or contrast
  • Pop into a DIY store and pick up some colour match cards, these will give you great options on which colours naturally work best together within a particular shade
  • Flick through some fashion magazines, cut out any images that you like
  • Take a wander around an interiors or homewares store, see how stylist's put room schemes together
  • Make a mood board, so you can show your ideas to your suppliers

When you're looking for images in magazines, it might be better if they're not from a wedding setting, just look for the colours that you like.  Don't skimp on how many you cut out, you can always cut the number down later. Perhaps try to choose one key colour and build the rest of the scheme around it.

Then when you're ready stick them on a board, A3 size is good and show your ideas to your florist, stationer, your venue wedding coordinator and venue styling company and let them use their imagination to help create a dream colour scheme for your wedding.
